A teenage boy from South London has been killed in a fatal shooting while visiting Jamaica, authorities have confirmed.
Tragedy in the Early Hours
Romario Scott, an 18-year-old from Elmworth Grove in West Dulwich, was shot by unknown attackers in Kingston. The incident occurred on Third Street, Trench Town, at approximately 3am on Friday, December 5.
According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), Romario was standing by the roadside when witnesses reported hearing loud explosions. He was later discovered on the ground with gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to hospital, the young man was pronounced dead.
Foreign Office Support for Grieving Family
A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office stated: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Jamaica.” The department is providing consular assistance to Romario's loved ones back in the UK during this devastating time.
A Disturbing Pattern for South Londoners
Tragically, Romario Scott is the second young man from South London to be gunned down in the Jamaican capital within a single year. In February, this publication reported on the death of Kalvin Blackman, 31, from New Cross. He was fatally shot during what was believed to be a robbery.
These consecutive incidents have raised concerns within the communities of South London, where many families have connections to Jamaica.
The investigation into Romario's murder remains active, with Jamaican police appealing for information. His family has been left shattered by the sudden and violent loss.
