Police have publicly identified the man who was shot and killed in northwest London on Friday evening as 55-year-old Simon Whyte.
Appeal for witnesses after fatal incident
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police's Specialist Crime Command have launched a public appeal for information following the fatal shooting in the Stonebridge area of Brent. Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the event, has relevant information, or possesses dashcam footage from the vicinity to come forward immediately.
They have expressed a particular interest in speaking to a small group of people who were congregated nearby at the time of the shooting.
Police response and community reassurance
Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, leading the investigation, stated his thoughts were with Mr Whyte's family and friends during this "incredibly difficult time." He acknowledged the incident would cause concern locally and beyond but sought to reassure residents.
"We have increased patrols in the area," DCI John confirmed. "I'd like to reassure the public that our investigation remains a priority." He emphasised the urgency for anyone with information to contact police at the earliest opportunity.
Timeline of the shooting
Emergency services were called to West End Close just after 9:30pm on Friday, 19 December 2025, following reports of a shooting. Police officers administered emergency first aid at the scene, supported by the London Ambulance Service.
Despite their efforts, Simon Whyte was pronounced dead at the location. As of Sunday, 21 December, no arrests have been made in connection with his death, and the murder investigation continues.
