Five Men Found Guilty in 2025 Walworth Murder of Giovanny Bedoya
The five men convicted of murdering 21-year-old Giovanny Bedoya in Walworth have been publicly identified for the first time. Joseph Jimenez, 22, Angel Angulo, 19, Bryan Hernandez, 20, Zozoro Boizo, 21, and Christian Gonzalez, 22, carried out a brutal knife attack amid escalating tensions between two rival groups.
Violent Attack and Police Response
Police initially responded to reports of an armed fight spilling out over Hillingdon Street and Langdale Close at 9.16pm on April 14, 2025. Giovanny was discovered with severe stab injuries and tragically died at the scene approximately 50 minutes later.
The Metropolitan Police investigation revealed that Giovanny had been chased through an alleyway behind residential flats and cornered before the fatal assault. Hernandez, wearing a damaged and blood-stained tracksuit, was detained in the area shortly after the stabbing.
Evidence and Flight Attempts
A search of Hernandez's mobile phone uncovered discussions about destroying evidence and concerns about police activity. CCTV enquiries subsequently established that a property on Langdale Close was being used as a squat.
Angulo and Boizo had already fled the address and travelled by taxi to a friend's home, where surveillance cameras captured Angulo changing clothes and carrying a bin bag. Prosecutors asserted this was the disposal of bloodied items and weapons used in the attack.
Gonzalez left the United Kingdom and was detained near Barcelona on May 19, 2025, before being extradited back to Britain. Jimenez was later arrested in Chichester after fleeing London.
Convictions and Sentencing
Each of the five men were found guilty following the conclusion of an 11-week trial at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. They are scheduled to be sentenced at the same court on May 20, 2026.
Police Statement and Context
Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn, who led the investigation, stated: "This was a sustained and extremely violent attack, carried out by a group acting together. Giovanny was chased and killed in brutal circumstances, and today’s convictions reflect the strength of the evidence and the determination of the investigation team."
"Our thoughts remain with Giovanny’s family and loved ones, who have shown immense dignity throughout these proceedings. Such brutality has no place on our streets - it rips families and communities apart. That’s why the Met is doing everything it can to target dangerous offenders and prevent senseless violence."
In a tragic twist, Giovanny had previously been spared prison over a zombie knife offence months before his death, after being caught with the weapon near his home in Burgess Park.
