A 20-year-old man was stabbed during a mass brawl involving approximately a dozen young people in East Ham's Central Park. The Metropolitan Police confirmed they were called to the scene near the water fountain shortly before 5:25pm on Wednesday, April 22.
Victim Hospitalized and Discharged
Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim had sustained a knife wound to his abdomen. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where medical staff determined his injuries were not life-threatening or life-altering. The man has since been discharged from medical care.
No Arrests Made Yet
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the stabbing. Police are urging anyone who was in Central Park at the time of the incident to come forward with information.
Detective Inspector Sam Lockstone, leading the investigation, stated: "This happened in broad daylight in a popular park. We want to hear from anyone who was in the park at the time and might have footage of the incident to come forward and speak to us."
He added: "While knife crime in East Ham is down by 11 per cent in the past year, tackling serious violence is a key priority for the Met. This was an altercation involving weapons and could easily have ended in tragedy."
Appeal for Information
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting CAD 6025/22APR26, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Authorities continue to investigate the incident and are reviewing available evidence.
