A car plowed through a crowd of football fans celebrating Mexico's World Cup victory in Cabo San Lucas late Wednesday, injuring at least 17 people. The incident occurred around 9:45 p.m. local time after Mexico defeated the Czech Republic 3-0, securing top spot in their group and advancing to the round of 32.

Celebration Turns to Chaos

Hundreds of jubilant fans, many wearing Mexico's green jerseys, had gathered in the resort city's streets. Video footage posted online shows fans surrounding a black car, pressing against its windows and hood. The vehicle suddenly accelerated, ramming into the crowd before attempting to flee. The car's occupants were arrested at the scene shortly after.

All injured individuals were taken to local hospitals and are reported to be in stable condition. No fatalities were recorded, according to authorities.

Investigation Underway

Alberto Rentería Santana, general secretary of Los Cabos City Council, confirmed that investigations are ongoing. “We are working to determine the circumstances and motives behind this incident,” he said. The suspects remain in custody.

Cabo San Lucas, a popular tourist destination at the tip of the Baja California peninsula, is known for its beaches and marine life. The city is in Baja California Sur state.
