A 75-year-old man has been arrested as the Metropolitan Police launch a murder investigation following the discovery of a woman's body at a home in East London.
The woman, aged 70, was found at a property on Boulton Road in Dagenham yesterday (Sunday, June 14) after police and paramedics responded to concerns for her welfare. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect, who was also present at the scene, was arrested on suspicion of murder. He is currently in hospital, where he was taken following his arrest.
Detective Inspector Mark Waker, who is leading the investigation, said: “We understand how concerning this news will be for the local community, and our officers will remain in the area today to provide reassurance.
“Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the woman who died. Detectives are working diligently to establish the exact circumstances, but at this stage, we believe this was an isolated incident.”
