Comedian and actor Russell Brand is now confronting further serious criminal allegations, with police confirming new charges of rape and sexual assault.
Details of the New Allegations
The Metropolitan Police announced on Tuesday 23 December 2025 that Russell Brand has been charged with additional counts. These latest charges relate to two further women and are separate from the initial set of charges issued in April of the same year.
The earlier charges, which involved four women, included two counts of rape, one count of indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault. Brand has entered a plea of not guilty to those original five charges.
Court Dates and Ongoing Investigation
In relation to the two new charges, Brand is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 20 January 2026.
Meanwhile, his trial concerning the five original charges is scheduled to begin at Southwark Crown Court on 16 June 2026.
Detective Chief Inspector Tariq Farooqi, the officer leading the investigation for the Met, has issued a public appeal. He stated that the women involved continue to receive support from specially trained officers.
Appeal for Witnesses and Support
"The Met's investigation remains ongoing, and detectives urge anyone affected by this case, or anyone with information, to come forward and speak with police," DCI Farooqi said.
He also highlighted the availability of support through the independent charity Rape Crisis, specifically mentioning the 24/7 Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Line.
The police have emphasised that their enquiries are continuing and encourage any potential witnesses or other affected individuals to make contact.
