A man arrested in relation to the infamous 'Putney Pusher' case from 2017 has been detained again after police discovered drugs at his London residence. The suspect, a 44-year-old banker and former British Army officer, was initially taken into custody yesterday, nine years after a woman was pushed under a bus on Putney Bridge.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that while in custody, he was re-arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A and Class B drugs. A spokesperson stated: 'He has since been bailed pending further investigation in relation to all offences. Enquiries continue.'
Background of the Putney Pusher Case
In May 2017, the assailant, who became known as the 'Putney Pusher,' shoved a 33-year-old woman into the path of an oncoming bus on Putney Bridge. The bus driver managed to swerve and avoid hitting her, but the shocking incident was captured on CCTV, sparking a widespread manhunt that lasted years.
The suspect, described as a millionaire with connections to several European royal families, works as a director at a private bank after serving in the British Army. Despite two previous arrests and questioning of 50 suspects, the case had remained unsolved until this recent development.
Ongoing Investigation
Police have not released further details about the drugs found or the specific charges. The suspect remains on bail as investigations continue into both the original assault and the drug offenses.
