The sergeant admitted to placing a corner of a picture frame on her laptop keys to prevent the device from entering sleep mode. This created the false impression that she was actively working during her designated shifts. An investigation was triggered when the force's professional standards department analyzed data showing Sergeant X's keystrokes were abnormally high. Further evidence revealed her keystroke counts were between three and eight times higher than those of colleagues in similar roles, raising immediate red flags.
