A murder investigation has been launched after a woman was found dead at a home in Croydon, with three individuals now in police custody. The incident occurred in Thornton Heath, prompting an immediate response from emergency services.
Incident Details
The London Ambulance Service alerted police to a property on Furze Road, Thornton Heath, at approximately 9:20 AM on Wednesday, May 27, following concerns for a woman's welfare. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 53-year-old woman who was pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of paramedics.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death, alongside formal identification procedures. Authorities are actively working to locate and inform the woman's next of kin.
Arrests Made
Two men and a woman, all aged between 44 and 69, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. They remain in police custody as investigations continue.
Detective Sergeant Suzanne Harris, leading the inquiry, stated: 'Our thoughts remain with the victim and her family at this difficult time.' She emphasised that while such an incident may cause public concern, it is believed to be an isolated event. 'Residents can expect to see an increase in police presence over the coming days and must not hesitate to speak to police on the ground if they have any questions or concerns.'

DS Harris added: 'My team and I are working at pace to piece together the circumstances surrounding the woman's death and are asking anyone with information to get in touch as a matter of urgency.'
