Julio Iglesias Faces Inquiry Over Sexual Assault Allegations in Caribbean
Julio Iglesias investigated over sexual assault claims

Spanish authorities have opened a formal investigation into global music icon Julio Iglesias following serious allegations of sexual assault. The inquiry focuses on claims made by two former employees at the singer's properties in the Caribbean.

Details of the Allegations and Investigation

The case was initiated after a joint investigation by Spanish online newspaper elDiario.es and television channel Univision Noticias brought the claims to light. The Spanish prosecutors' office for the National Court confirmed it received formal allegations against Iglesias on 5 January 2026.

The specific accusations state that the 82-year-old singer sexually assaulted two workers at his Caribbean residences. The alleged incidents are said to have occurred between January and October 2021.

Legal Proceedings and Public Response

Due to the nature of the claims, the case could potentially be heard by a Madrid court. Spain's legal system allows its National Court to try alleged crimes committed by Spanish citizens while they are abroad.

As of now, Julio Iglesias – father of pop star Enrique Iglesias – has not made any public statement addressing the allegations. A request for comment sent to Russell L. King, a Miami-based entertainment lawyer who lists Iglesias as a client, was not immediately returned.

The Legacy of a Music Legend

Julio Iglesias is one of the best-selling musical artists in history, having sold more than 300 million records worldwide in over a dozen languages. He began his career in Spain before achieving immense popularity in the United States and globally during the 1970s, cementing his status as a Latin pop legend.

The unfolding investigation marks a significant moment for the veteran performer, whose legacy is now under scrutiny as the legal process begins.
