Ivanka Trump, the eldest daughter of the US president, was the target of an assassination plot orchestrated by an IRGC-trained terrorist, according to reports. Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi, 32, allegedly planned the attack in revenge for the killing of Iranian military officer Qasim Soleimani, who died in a US drone strike in 2020.
Plot Details
Al-Saadi reportedly obtained and published a blueprint of Ms Trump's home on Indian Creek Island, near Miami Beach, Florida. The $24 million property is where she lives with her husband, Jared Kushner, and their three children. A threat delivered in Arabic stated: 'I say to the Americans look at this picture and know that neither your palaces nor the Secret Service will protect you. We are currently in the stage of surveillance and analysis. I told you, our revenge is a matter of time.'
Arrest and Charges
Al-Saadi was arrested in Turkey last week and faces charges for 18 separate attacks and planned attacks. He is allegedly linked to a shooting at a US consulate in Toronto and the stabbing of two Jewish individuals in Golders Green, north London, last month. He also helped plan attacks on synagogues in Liège, Belgium, and Rotterdam.
Ms Trump converted to Judaism before marrying Mr Kushner in 2009.
Background of the Suspect
Elizabeth Tzurkov, a senior fellow at the New Lines Institute, said Al-Saadi had close ties with both Soleimani and his successor, Esmail Qaani. Born in Baghdad, Iraq, Al-Saadi later moved to Tehran to be trained by the IRGC. His father, Iranian brigadier general Ahmad Kazemi, died in 2006.
