Corrections and Clarifications
The Guardian strives to maintain the highest standards of accuracy in its reporting. In our commitment to transparency, we publish corrections and clarifications for errors that have appeared in our articles.
Misattributed Quote
In an article published on May 27, 2026, titled "Chancellor Announces New Economic Measures," a quote was incorrectly attributed to Treasury Minister Sarah Johnson. The quote was actually made by former minister Alan Briggs. We apologize for this error and have updated the online version accordingly.
Factual Inaccuracy
In our May 25, 2026, piece on historical landmarks, we stated that the Tower of London was built in 1078. In fact, construction began in 1078, but the White Tower, the central keep, was not completed until 1100. We regret the inaccuracy.
Correction: The article has been amended to reflect the correct completion date.
Other Clarifications
- A photo caption in our May 28 edition misidentified the location of a protest as Trafalgar Square; it was actually Parliament Square.
- An obituary for author Jane Roberts mistakenly listed her birth year as 1945 instead of 1946.
