The family of a five-year-old girl who died following a crash in Lancashire have paid tribute to their 'bundle of energy and joy.' Alana Moscrop, aged five, passed away on Wednesday in hospital after fighting for her life for five days following a serious collision on the A59 in Gisburn, Lancashire, last week.
In a heartfelt tribute, her family said: 'On Tuesday afternoon our lives were changed forever. We lost our beautiful, fun, perfect little princess. She will forever be missed but never forgotten by mum, Natalie, dad, Andrew, twin brother Finn and everyone who was lucky enough to meet her. We are beyond brokenhearted without her, she was our loving bundle of energy and joy.'
Kirkby Lonsdale Cricket Club also honoured Alana, who was one of the team's all-star players this year, and her father is involved with the club. In a social media post, the club stated: 'In light of this heartbreaking loss, all cricketing events have been postponed until further notice, as we come together to grieve, support one another, and in time celebrate the life of a wonderful, happy little girl who was only just beginning her cricket journey. Alana Moscrop, forever a KLCC All Star.'
The crash occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, May 21, on the A-road in the Clitheroe area of rural Lancashire when a Skoda Karoq collided with a Volkswagen Golf R. Alana was travelling westbound in the Skoda, driven by a woman in her 60s, along with a boy also aged five. The driver and both children sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital. After five days of fighting for her life, Alana succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday. The female driver and the boy remain in hospital receiving treatment. The driver of the Golf, a man in his 20s, was also seriously injured and remains hospitalized. He is being treated as a witness in the investigation, according to Ribble Valley Police.
The police force said: 'Our thoughts are very much with Alana's family, who are being supported by specially-trained Family Liaison Officers, and all those who knew and loved her. It is clear from their tribute just how loved and adored she was, and it is devastating news that she has died. They have understandably asked for privacy at this terrible time, and we ask that people please respect that. Our enquiries into the collision are very much ongoing, and we are continuing to appeal for anyone with information or footage that could help us. While we are appealing for information, we also request that this is passed on through appropriate channels, and people refrain from speculating online or otherwise. Please remember that a little girl has lost her life, and a little boy and two adults remain injured. This collision has and will continue to affect real people – and seeing unnecessary speculation online will only make matters more distressing for them.'
