Dog Triggers Shotgun, Injures Woman in Scottsbluff

A routine call about a shotgun blast at a convenience store in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, took an unusual turn when police discovered the trigger was pulled by a dog. The incident occurred at a Short Stop gas station, where officers responded to reports of gunfire.

Investigation Reveals Canine Culprit

According to local TV station KNOP News 2, police arrived at the scene to find a truck with blast damage on one of its doors and a woman suffering from a pellet wound to her arm. The woman, a passerby, had been struck by a shotgun pellet.

Further investigation revealed that the shotgun blast occurred as the vehicle pulled up to the store. A dog in the back seat moved from one side to another, inadvertently triggering the loaded shotgun, which had a live round chambered. The discharge damaged the vehicle and struck the female victim.
