Bermondsey Murder: Man Charged After Terry Wilding Dies

A man who died in Bermondsey from serious head injuries has been named and pictured for the first time, as police launch a murder investigation. Terry Wilding, 43, was rushed to hospital at about 12:30pm on Wednesday, June 10, after he was attacked at a home on Cadbury Way, Bermondsey. He died later that night in hospital.

A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Thursday, June 11. Jay Hewetson, 41, of Abbey Street, Southwark, was charged on Friday, June 12, with murder and remanded to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, June 13.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “A man has been charged with murder after the death of a man in Bermondsey. Police were contacted by staff at a London hospital at around 12:30hrs on Wednesday, 10 June after a man was admitted with serious head injuries. Early enquiries indicated that the 43-year-old man had been assaulted inside a property on Cadbury Way, SE16. Despite best efforts of medical staff, he sadly died in hospital later that night. The victim can now be named as Terry Wilding. His family continue to be supported by specialist officers. On Thursday, 11 June officers arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of murder.”

Jay Hewetson, 41 (30.11.84), of Abbey Street, Southwark, was charged on Friday, 12 June with murder and was remanded to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 13 June.
