Ronnie O'Sullivan Hopes for Reconciliation with Estranged Daughter
Ronnie O'Sullivan opens up on family and Dubai move

Snooker icon Ronnie O'Sullivan has publicly expressed his desire to heal the rift with his estranged daughter, Taylor-Ann Magnus, from whom he has been separated for over a decade. The seven-time world champion's comments come alongside revelations about his recent relocation to Dubai with his wife, Laila Rouass.

A Hopeful Message for Family Reconciliation

In a candid interview with The Times, O'Sullivan was asked if the long-standing estrangement from his eldest daughter was permanent. His response, 'I hope not,' was followed by a heartfelt admission. 'I think I've got to make some sort of amends,' he stated, acknowledging the need for reconciliation. While uncertain of the path forward, the snooker legend expressed optimism that 'at some point, it might sort itself out.'

This public plea for a potential reunion follows stark comments made by Taylor-Ann Magnus after O'Sullivan's record-equalling seventh World Snooker Championship win at the Crucible in 2022. She told the Mirror, 'He's not part of my life,' and indicated she would not want her father around her or her child. Magnus, whose mother dated O'Sullivan in the 1990s, last saw him when she was 17 or 18 years old.

A New Chapter in Dubai

O'Sullivan's personal reflections coincide with a major life change: moving his family to Dubai. He cited several reasons for this decision, moving beyond the appeal of a warmer climate. The snooker star revealed that his previous lifestyle had become 'a bit too hectic.'

He explained the logistical challenges he faced, including frequent, time-consuming trips into London and the need to travel to Sheffield for a week at a time to secure proper practice facilities. 'I couldn't get anything done there,' O'Sullivan confessed, noting that the highlight of his day was often a simple cup of tea at a shopping centre.

The choice of Dubai was strategic. With significant work commitments in the Middle East and China, O'Sullivan struggled with persistent jet lag from his UK base. The new location offers a central hub to manage his international travel more effectively. He was quick to dismiss notions of a 'bouji lifestyle,' instead emphasising the 'simplicity' and excellent weather that the city provides.

Focus on a Renewed Family Life

While his relationship with his eldest daughter remains a work in progress, O'Sullivan now shares a much stronger bond with his two other children, Ronnie Junior and Lily. He noted that he sees more of his daughter than ever before, describing her as 'quite laid-back, very chilled.'

He added that both children are supportive, saying, 'They just want me to be happy.' This renewed family connection will be celebrated this Christmas, as Ronnie Junior and Lily are set to join their father and stepmother in their new home in Dubai, marking a fresh start for the sporting superstar.
