Police in Surrey have issued an urgent public appeal to help identify a man who was found dead on a residential street in Guildford.
Body Discovered on Residential Road
The man was discovered lifeless outside a home on Hazel Avenue in the Bellfields area shortly after 7.15am on Friday, January 9, 2026. Emergency services were called after a member of the public found the body. The road was subsequently closed for several hours between Lime Grove and Willow Way, reopening in the afternoon.
Police Appeal for Information
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Butterworth, who is leading the investigation, stated that a dedicated team is working to identify the man and piece together the events leading to his death. The man is believed to be aged between 20 and 50 years old.
"I understand there will be a lot of concern about what has happened," DCI Butterworth said. "We are urgently appealing for information which could help our investigation."
