Gardai have launched a major investigation following the tragic discovery of two bodies at separate residential addresses in west Dublin on Thursday morning.
Morning Discovery in Ballyfermot
Emergency services were first called to a property in the Cherry Orchard area of Ballyfermot at around 8.30am on Thursday, 8 January 2026. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of a man, believed to be in his 40s. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Second Tragic Find in Clondalkin
As part of their immediate follow-up inquiries, officers then attended a second home in the nearby suburb of Clondalkin. There, they made a second devastating discovery: the body of a boy. The exact age of the child has not yet been released by authorities.
Forensic Scenes and Investigations
Both locations have been sealed off as active crime scenes and are now subject to detailed forensic examination. The Technical Bureau of An Garda Siochana, the Irish police service, is leading this meticulous process.
The State Pathologist's Office has been notified and post-mortem examinations are due to be arranged to establish the precise causes of death. The body of the man has been removed to the city morgue, while the boy's body remained at the Clondalkin scene into Thursday afternoon.
The local coroner has been formally informed of both deaths. Gardai have not released any further details regarding the circumstances or any potential connection between the two incidents, stating that investigations are at an early stage.
