Police have launched a murder investigation after a 28-year-old man was found stabbed to death on a street in Clerkenwell. Officers were called to Lloyd Baker Street at around 11.20pm on Wednesday, September 16, following reports of a stabbing. The victim was discovered with stab injuries and was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service, where he later died on Thursday, September 17.
Investigation Underway and No Arrests Made
No arrests have been made so far, and officers are conducting urgent enquiries. The victim's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. Floral tributes have been placed at the scene, reflecting the community's shock at the incident.
Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart, who leads policing in the local area, said: "This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the young man who has lost his life. You can expect to see additional officers in the area providing visible reassurance and working with partners to keep the public safe."
Enhanced Police Powers Authorised
In response to the incident, a Section 60 order was authorised, granting officers enhanced powers to stop and search people and vehicles without suspicion. The order covered the Caledonian Road, Clerkenwell, and Hoxton areas and ran from 4pm on Friday, September 18, to 6am on Saturday, September 19.
Lloyd Baker Street is known for its expensive properties, with homes in the area selling for as much as £2.25 million. The residential street has been cordoned off as forensic teams continue their work.

Chief Superintendent Stewart added: "The victim was found in a residential street, and members of the public may have information of vital importance to our investigation. If you can help, please come forward."
Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101, quoting reference CAD 8475/16SEP. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. The investigation remains ongoing, and officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.
