Tony Awards 2025: Lost Boys and Schmigadoon! Lead Nominations

The Lost Boys and Schmigadoon! have emerged as the frontrunners for this year's Tony Awards, each securing 12 nominations. These original musicals, inspired by the 1980s vampire film and the canceled Apple TV+ comedy respectively, will compete in the category of Best Original Musical against Titanique and Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York).

Musical Revivals and Leading Performances

Ragtime, a musical revival, follows closely with 11 nominations. In the acting categories, Rose Byrne has earned her first Tony nomination for Best Actress in a Play for her role in the Noel Coward comedy Fallen Angels, shortly after receiving her first Oscar nomination for the dark comedy If I Had Legs I'd Kick You. Her co-star Kelli O'Hara also received a nomination, marking her ninth Tony nod. The Guardian's Juan A Ramirez praised the duo as "compulsively watchable" in a five-star review.

Byrne and O'Hara will compete against Carrie Coon (Bug), Susannah Flood (Liberation), and Lesley Manville (Oedipus). Manville previously won an Olivier Award for her performance in the West End production.
