JLS's Aston Merrygold Shares Post-Surgery Update From Hospital Bed
JLS star Aston Merrygold updates fans after surgery

JLS star Aston Merrygold has shared a positive health update with his fans directly from his hospital bed, following a necessary surgical procedure.

From Injury to Operation

The singer, who first rose to fame in 2006 as part of the hit band JLS, underwent surgery after sustaining an injury last month. The accident occurred while he was rehearsing for the group's The Club Is Alive: 2025 Hits Tour, which features 18 shows.

In early November, Merrygold hinted at the issue, posting photos showing his right foot in a moon boot, heavily bandaged, and later in a cast. His caption at the time read simply: ‘It’s been quite a week.’ His wife, Sarah Louise, offered her support, commenting: ‘If anyone can pull it off it’s you. Proud of you baby.’

Post-Surgery Recovery Begins

This weekend, the singer took to social media to document his hospital journey. He initially posted a photo from a hospital gown, using crutches, with the caption ‘Here we go’ alongside knife and leg emojis, signalling his imminent operation.

Following the procedure, he shared an upbeat update with his followers. ‘Done, done & done! Thanks for all the love and support everyone…thankfully everything went to plan in surgery,’ he wrote. He praised the medical staff before confirming: ‘I’m home with my favourites so the rest and recovery starts now.’

A series of photos accompanied the news, showing:

  • Aston giving a thumbs-up from his hospital bed.
  • A smiling selfie with his wife, Sarah Louise, and their three children.
  • Him being assisted by a medical professional while practising walking with crutches.

Flood of Support from Fans and Famous Friends

The update was quickly met with a wave of supportive messages. His JLS bandmate Marvin Humes wrote: ‘My guy! Over the moon everything went well.’ Marvin's wife, former The Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes, left three prayer emojis.

Fellow JLS member JB Gill also chimed in, stating: ‘Great news! Well done bro ?? #projectrecuperate.’

Aston Merrygold married Sarah Louise in 2022, and the couple share three children: Grayson Jax, Macauley Shay, and Riley Skye. Beyond JLS, Merrygold is known for judging Got to Dance, competing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, and starring as the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz stage show.

JLS, which also includes Oritsé Williams, were runners-up on the fifth series of The X Factor in 2008. The group achieved five UK number-one singles and a number-one album before disbanding in 2013. They reunited five years ago, leading to their current 2025 tour.
