Rapper and actress Eve, born Eve Jihan Jeffers, has opened up about a memorable Hollywood mishap involving James Bond star Daniel Craig, while also celebrating recent career achievements including a long-overdue Grammy award. The 47-year-old artist, known for hits like "Let Me Blow Ya Mind," is set to co-host the UK's MOBO Awards with comedian Eddie Kadi, marking nearly three decades in the entertainment industry.
An Unscripted Encounter with James Bond
In an interview with Metro, Eve recounted an unexpected incident during the filming of the 2008 movie Flashbacks of a Fool. "Daniel Craig punched me in the nose by mistake!" she revealed. The scene called for a fake punch, but a dog on set began acting erratically, causing both actors to collide. "It made both of us smash into each other, basically, and yeah, he punched me," Eve explained.
Rather than letting the accident disrupt the shoot, Eve embraced the moment. "I used it for the scene. It was perfect, made the scene really real," she said with a laugh. She described going "super method" and noted that Craig was "sweet" about the mishap, though "horrified" at the time. This anecdote highlights the unpredictable nature of filmmaking and Eve's professional adaptability.

Beyond this Hollywood story, Eve reflected on her iconic music career, which includes collaborations with legends like Prince, Michael Jackson, and Missy Elliott. Despite her vocals being key to the track alongside Erykah Badu's, she was initially left out of the award celebration. "There was a sense of closure," Eve said of finally getting the recognition. "I said in my speech it was for 'little Eve' in a way because I wrote that [verse] before I was signed."
She expressed deep emotion about the belated honor: "I have to say I am truly touched. It's a full circle thing." Eve also emphasized her role in paving the way for female artists, stating, "Being a female artist, a female MC especially, I definitely know that I helped to open doors and pave the way. The same way artists before me did – the next helps the next."

As she prepares to host the MOBO Awards, which celebrate 30 years of Black music and culture, Eve admitted to feeling "nervous in a good way." She joked about the importance of outfit changes, saying, "I had a big meeting with my stylist and we've pinpointed a few things. I said, 'How many [outfit] changes do I get?' That is a very important question."
The event will be broadcast live on Thursday, March 26, from 8pm on Twitch, with an "Access All Areas" show airing on BBC One the following day.
