Dolly Parton Cancels Las Vegas Residency Due to Health Issues
Dolly Parton Cancels Las Vegas Residency Over Health

Dolly Parton has canceled her Las Vegas residency due to ongoing health issues, disappointing fans who were eagerly awaiting her return to the stage. The 80-year-old country music icon originally scheduled six performances at Caesars Palace for December 2024 but postponed them to September 2026. Now, she has announced via social media that she will not be able to perform those rescheduled dates either.

Health Update from Dolly Parton

In an emotional Instagram video, Parton shared that while she is responding well to medications and treatments and improving every day, she still needs more time to recover fully. “It's going to take me a little while before I’m up to stage-performance level,” she explained. The singer noted that her current medications make her feel “swimmy-headed,” preventing her from safely performing while carrying banjos, guitars, and wearing five-inch heels.

Parton reassured fans by comparing herself to a classic car: “Just think of me as an old classic car, that once restored, can be better than ever.” She emphasized that she is still active, working on videos, visiting Dollywood, and preparing to open her museum and hotel in Nashville later this year. She is also developing a Broadway musical.

Previous Health Concerns and Public Appearances

This cancellation follows a year of health challenges. In October 2024, Parton took to social media to dispel rumors that her health was deteriorating. She later withdrew from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Governors Awards in November, where she was set to receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. The singer has also dealt with kidney stones, which she mentioned in her recent video.

Adding to her personal trials, her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Thomas Dean, passed away at age 82 in 2024. Despite these difficulties, Parton made a public appearance in March 2025, delivering a keynote speech at her Dollywood theme park.

Fan Support and Future Plans

Parton captioned her video with a message of gratitude: “Thank you for standing by me and showing me so much love and support over the past year. I’ve still got some healing to do, but I am on my way! See you soon.” She assured fans that her doctors are optimistic about her recovery. “I have great doctors and I’m doing really well and they assure me that everything I have is treatable so I’m going with that,” she said.

In April 2025, Parton topped a YouGov poll of most favorable global figures, surpassing Barack Obama and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, reflecting her enduring popularity. While her Las Vegas residency is on hold, fans can look forward to her upcoming projects, including the Nashville museum and hotel, as well as her Broadway musical.
