Rayman Legends Retold Remake Leaks: New 3D Sections and October Release
Rayman Legends Retold Remake Leaks: 3D Sections and October

Ubisoft's plans to revive its classic mascot Rayman have taken a significant step forward with new leaks surrounding a remake of Rayman Legends. The game, reportedly titled Rayman Legends Retold, is said to include new 3D sections and is expected to launch on October 1 this year. An official reveal is rumored for Sony's State of Play event on June 2.

Leaked Logo and Details

The leaks began with a logo shared by X account asdf, which previously leaked a screenshot from Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced before its official announcement. The logo reveals the full title: Rayman Legends Retold. Insider Gaming, which originally reported on the remake, has confirmed the logo's authenticity and added that the game will be formally unveiled next week, with a release date of October 1.

New Content and 3D Sections

Insider NateTheHate has provided additional details, stating that the remake will feature 'new content and more' and will 'impress and surprise people.' He specifically mentioned that the game will be '2.5D with some 3D sections.' This marks a significant departure from the original Rayman Legends, which, despite having 3D graphics, was a purely 2D platformer. If accurate, this would make Rayman Legends Retold the first 3D Rayman game since Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc in 2003.

Release Timing Concerns

The rumored October release date has raised eyebrows, as Ubisoft appears to be repeating past mistakes. The original Rayman Legends launched just weeks before Grand Theft Auto V in 2013, which hurt its sales. Now, the remake is reportedly scheduled to drop about a month before GTA 6 and less than a week before Star Wars: Galactic Racer on October 6. Despite Ubisoft's efforts to revive the franchise, the timing may once again prove challenging.

While Rayman Legends already holds up well in terms of gameplay and graphics, and is available on most platforms, a current-gen version for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 is lacking. Some fans argue that Rayman Origins would have been a more suitable candidate for a remake, as it remains trapped on older consoles. However, the addition of 3D sections suggests a more substantial overhaul than initially expected.
