Battersea Power Station jetty to host open-air cinema and events until 2028
Battersea jetty events extended to 2028

Battersea Power Station's Coaling Jetty will continue to host open-air cinema, pop-up events, and exhibitions until 2028, according to a new planning application by Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC). The developer seeks temporary permission to use the jetty for these activities, including retaining its existing decking and bridges, as part of a broader effort to test viable uses and develop a permanent strategy for the site within the £9 billion regeneration of the power station.

Planned Events and Activities

The temporary permission would allow the jetty to be used for art installations, live music, markets, open-air cinema, community or charity events, exhibitions, and sports screenings. BPSDC intends to use these events to identify appropriate and sustainable uses for the jetty, balancing public benefit with respect for the surrounding context and heritage significance, as stated in planning documents.

Part of the Wider Masterplan

The proposals are part of the larger masterplan for the power station, which is divided into seven phases. To date, more than 2,200 homes have been completed, including 386 affordable homes at New Mansion Square in partnership with Peabody. The regeneration has also brought new shops, restaurants, bars, and a Northern line extension that connects Battersea to the London Underground for the first time.

Future Development

Over 16 acres of land remain to be redeveloped in the remaining phases, which will include new cultural attractions, experiences, additional homes, and workplaces. Wandsworth Council will make a decision on the temporary jetty permission in due course.
