Adam Sandler has been criticized online for his extremely casual outfit at the premiere of his wife Jackie Sandler's new film Office Romance this week. While Jennifer Lopez led the cast on the red carpet, Sandler showed up in an oversized orange New York Knicks hoodie, loose blue sweatpants, and trainers, sparking a fierce reaction from the internet.
Reactions to Sandler's Attire
Many social media users expressed surprise that Sandler did not dress up more for his wife's event. One Reddit user wrote: 'I feel like it's one thing when he's promoting his own projects but for his wife's work you think he could throw on some khakis and a golf shirt at least lol.' Another person commented: 'He always looks like he just turned thirteen and discovered his dad's credit card.' A third added: 'It must be so cool to be a man and be allowed to look like c***.'
However, not everyone was horrified. Some pointed out that Sandler has dressed this way for most of his adult life and should not be expected to change. A fan joked: 'I mean, for Sandler that's pretty much formal wear.' Another wrote: 'It's his shtick, why are we surprised lol.'
Jackie Sandler's Support for His Style
Sandler has previously spoken about how comfortable his wife is with his scruffy wardrobe. In an interview with Complex, he explained: 'My wife always was nice to me about my clothes. My wife would say, "He's comfortable like that. Let him do that. Leave him alone."'
The couple first met while filming the 1999 comedy Big Daddy, where Jackie had a small role as a waitress. They married in 2003 at Dick Clark's oceanfront estate in Malibu, with guests including Jennifer Aniston, Jack Nicholson, Rob Schneider, and Sharon Osbourne.
Sandler marked 22 years since they met with an Instagram tribute: '22 years ago today we locked eyes and fell deep. Look forward to the next 22, young lady. Love you my forever girl.'
The couple shares two daughters, Sadie, 20, and Sunny, 17, who have appeared in Netflix projects including Happy Gilmore 2, Leo, and You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah. Sadie also stars in the comedy Roommates, produced through Sandler's company Happy Madison.
