Guardian Sport and its columnist Jonathan Liew took home top honors at the Sports Journalists' Association (SJA) British Sports Journalism Awards on Monday evening. The Guardian was named sports publisher of the year, while Liew secured columnist of the year for the fifth time in eight years, in addition to winning bronze in the football journalist of the year category.

The prestigious awards ceremony, held for the first time at the London Palladium, saw the Guardian's sports coverage lauded by the SJA judges as "a selection box of delights, consistently catering for many tastes." The event was hosted by Jim White, Reshmin Chowdhury, Bela Shah, and Joel Beya.
Other Guardian Winners
Suzanne Wrack earned bronze in the women's football journalist of the year category, and Andy Bull took bronze in the sports feature writer of the year (long form) category.
Will Woodward, head of sport at the Guardian, expressed his delight, stating, "It's an exciting time to be working at the Guardian." Jonathan Liew, visibly surprised by his win, commented, "I wasn't expecting to win this one; I respect the people on the shortlist so this one means a lot."
