Historic St Pancras Hotel Welcomes Hawksmoor's Eighth London Restaurant
The acclaimed steak house chain Hawksmoor has unveiled its latest establishment, taking residence within what many consider to be one of London's most breathtaking dining rooms. Located inside the Grade I-listed St Pancras London Hotel, the restaurant opened to the public earlier this month, marking a significant addition to the capital's culinary landscape.
A Design That Honours Heritage
Newly released photographs from interior design studio Macaulay Sinclair showcase the careful refurbishment of the historic space. The dining room and hotel were originally designed by the renowned architect Sir George Gilbert Scott and first opened in 1873 as the Midland Grand Hotel. Mai Yee Ng, Design Director at Hawksmoor, expressed the team's enthusiasm for the project, stating: "We love working with heritage buildings, and they don’t come much more spectacular than this Grade 1*-listed masterpiece by one of Britain’s most important architects."
The redesign has meticulously preserved the room's original fabric, highlighting its magnificent triple-height ceiling, intricate mosaic flooring, and beautiful stained-glass windows. A brand spokesperson confirmed that the new colour scheme of deep greens, peacock blues, and gold accents, combined with bespoke furniture, brings a signature Hawksmoor elegance to the iconic setting.
A Space Steeped in London History
The building itself has a rich and varied history. After closing as a hotel in 1935, the restaurant space was repurposed as a coffee room for St Pancras station before the entire building was converted into railway offices. It wasn't until 2011 that it reopened as a hotel, now hosting Hawksmoor's eighth London outpost and an adjoining Martini Bar, which officially opened on November 22, 2025.
The result is a stunning fusion of Victorian grandeur and contemporary dining excellence, offering Londoners and visitors a truly unique culinary experience in a setting of unparalleled beauty.
