Richmond Council has approved a comprehensive list of roads and pavements set for resurfacing works over the next year, with a total budget of nearly £9 million. The investment aims to improve safety, reduce reactive maintenance, and cut complaints and accident claims.
Budget breakdown
The council has allocated £8.7 million for the 2026/27 resurfacing programme, which includes a £1.2 million grant from the Department for Transport (DfT). Transport for London (TfL) has also confirmed an additional £60,000 to maintain A roads in the borough.
List of roads to be resurfaced
The transport committee approved the full list on June 9. The roads scheduled for resurfacing include Arundel Terrace, Barnes High Street, Richmond Hill, Hampton High Street, and many others. A total of 68 roads are listed.
Pavement resurfacing
In addition, 58 pavements will be resurfaced, including Melville Road, Washington Road, Bushy Park Gardens, and Teddington High Street.
Council officers stated that a safe and serviceable highway network is essential for the borough's economic vitality and resident access. The plans may change depending on development works, utility company activities, and actual costs.
