GTA 6 Leaks Reveal Basketball Minigame and Fuel Management

Leaked footage from Grand Theft Auto 6 has emerged online, revealing basketball minigames and a fuel management system that could prove controversial among fans. The clips, which Rockstar Games has taken down via copyright strikes, appear to show new role-playing mechanics and vehicle features not previously seen in the series.

Leaked Clips Show Basketball and Fuel Gauges

Two videos are circulating online, according to reports. In the first clip, Jason, one of the game's two protagonists, plays basketball outside a house featured in earlier trailers. When he scores a hoop, a 'focus' stat increases, suggesting role-playing mechanics similar to those in GTA: San Andreas.

The second clip shows Jason driving a car with SG Lewis's track 'Impact' playing on the radio. He crashes into a delivery truck, then clubs the driver to death with a wrench. Upon returning to the car, icons for 'loadout' and 'storage' appear on the back. When Jason gets back in the driver's seat, two icons pop up under the car model, resembling petrol and engine gauges. This indicates fuel management will be required for the first time in series history, a feature that could be controversial if it forces players to refuel regularly.

Rockstar Responds with Copyright Strikes

Rockstar has not commented on the leaked videos, but the clips have been hit with copyright strikes, suggesting they are legitimate. The outlet has reached out to Rockstar for comment. A group named Cyberleek has claimed responsibility for the leaks, which also include an image of the Leonidas map. According to the group's website, Cyberleek is targeting Rockstar to protest the decision to sell digital pre-orders without a proper physical version. The group is threatening more leaks 'until they issue a public statement and apology' with a 'concrete commitment to fix the harm they caused'.

Insider Says Footage Is Over a Year Old

Reliable insider NateTheHate has claimed the footage is from an old build of GTA 6. In response to a ResetEra thread about a rumoured GTA 6 press event, the insider wrote: 'Um… unless a new round of previews are underway, this claim isn’t accurate. Also, the leaked footage is over a year old.' It is unclear how NateTheHate would know this, but the user interface on the leaked footage does appear to use placeholder assets, especially the minimap.

Netflix Event and Release Date

Netflix's Extended Look at GTA 6 is scheduled for Thursday, August 27 at 8pm BST. It will launch on the Rockstar YouTube channel and GTA 6 website six hours later. The presentation is expected to show gameplay for the first time, making these leaks potentially redundant within a week. GTA 6 is set to launch across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026.
